SOLIDARITY WEEK 2024
One of the main initiatives I tackled at my past job as a graphic designer at NYU Center of Multicultural Education and Programs (@nyucmep) is Solidarity Week. It is a series of university-wide events that raises awareness for individual and collective injustices and urges us all to educate and take action.

I embarked on a creative exploration centered around abstract shapes, dynamic lines, and bold color palettes. Building upon the branding of the previous year, the goal was to evoke profound emotions of joy, unity, and an energetic spirit within the community. Using elements of line, solid shapes, and a futuristic color palette, I created a design inviting the community toward a brighter and more inclusive future.

The biggest challenge for this initiative is to create a brand versatile enough to be applicable for all sizes and formats, event promos, headshots, and Instagram infographics and stories. Moreover, communicating a memorable brand to viewers and other designers and creating something different for each event.

Color played a huge part in the branding. I enjoy experimenting with color combinations and trying out new color pairings.
Reflecting on past year's designs, we realized the different events had very similar graphics which made them indistinguishable at a first glance. I explored other possible color pairings for events under the same brand.

SOLIDARITY WEEK 2023

This year's Solidarity Week brand idea came from the shapes. My supervisor wanted to keep it abstract with strong branding. This led me to question how I can include the concepts of "solidarity" and "inclusivity" with just shapes. I used a variety of gradients and unique shape combinations with straight and round edges to symbolize the unity of many.

This social education post aims to spread information on the global migration crisis and act in solidarity with displaced persons, regardless of your location. I used interesting illustrations, consistent with the branding of the initiative- like people carrying baggage created out of the main brand shapes, to break it down and make it easier on the eyes to consume information.
