AMC REDESIGNED
Have you ever mistakenly bought front-row seats to the movies? I created this project because I realized the interface and experience of the AMC website is not intuitive. Using Cinema4D, I created 3D red bubbly seats and a camera tilt animation, simulating what pov users would see at their selected seats.

Project Brief
My Project Statement is to create 3D models and animation for the AMC ticketing website that
- improves the experience of buying a movie ticket online
- is easy to understand and intuitive
- is on brand with AMC
- gets people excited about going to the movies

Some of the usability problems with the AMC ticketing website is that the colors for available, selected, occupied seats are not intuitive. It is also hard to tell which way the seats are facing, especially after it is zoomed in.
Ideation & Research

Available
most of the theater should be in the recognizable and classic AMC red
Occupied
greyed out = unavailable
Selected
white =
very clearly visible

first mockup of AMC theater in birds-eye view (Cinema4D)
problems from the first mockup:
1. chairs look very rigid, uncomfortable, and too small
2. screen is not bright enough
3. how would the chair change color after selection, so that when camera drops into the chair, it would also look like the user is sitting in a red chair

field research

pov sketch
findings from field research:
1. screen is flat, not curved
2. chairs are huge and very comfortable
3. chairs do not block the view of the screen
4. there's a lot of space between rows
